Supporting Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's statement about conducting a caste census in Chhattisgarh, party MP Manickam Tagore said that the caste census is important for the development of the socially oppressed sections.
Reacting to the newly released caste census in the state, Bihar BJP President Samrat Choudhary on Friday said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is staging a drama for the appeasement of certain sections in the society.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday asserted if the Congress is re-elected to power in Chhattisgarh, a caste census will be conducted in the state, similar to the one carried out in Bihar.
The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Bihar government on the plea challenging a caste-based survey in the state and refused to stay anything arising out of the publication of the data of the caste census.
"All BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh, including CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan were shocked by the caste-based census. BJP is strongly against caste-based census. BJP's DNA is against OBCs," he added.
"This government has failed on every front. Whether it is on providing employment to the youths or on inflation. Inflation is so high that the poor are being forced to drink poison. Everywhere there is instability. At this time ED has become the right hand of the BJP," Mehbooba Mufti said.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole demanded on Wednesday that the central government clarify its stance on the caste-based census. He also urged the Centre to immediately carry out a decennial census, which has not been done since 2021.
