The prominent candidates in Ballia include Lallan Singh Yadav from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Neeraj Shekhar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Sanatan Pandey from the Samajwadi Party (SP).
The elections, held in seven phases, from April 19 saw people exercising their democratic right even as temperatures rose in peak summer. The Election Commission made special efforts to ensure large participation of people in the elections.
According to the Election Commission of India, over 10.06 crore elector including approximately 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female and 3574 third gender electors exercising their franchise. A total of 904 candidates are in the fray for Phase 7 polling.
