The West Bengal government has moved the Supreme Court challenging a Calcutta High Court order that left it open for the Centre to step in and deploy Central Armed Forces following violent agitation in Beldanga, Murshidabad, in mid-January that led to arson and damage to public property.<

Calling the High Court's order "appropriate, suitable and commendable," the BJP MP on Thursday said it sent a clear and unambiguous message exposing the alleged failures of the TMC government.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Majumdar said the High Court's order was a strong message to the Mamata Banerjee-led government and would compel it to act on issues related to national security.
With permission granted, the BJP will be allowed to start the procession from near the Garia Shitala Temple or the Shahid Khudiram Metro Station and proceed to the Narendrapur Police Station.
