The Delhi High Court on Friday granted interim bail to former Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda, his son Devender Darda and businessman Manoj Jayaswal in a case relating to irregularities in the allocation of a coal block in Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place when the businessman was returning to his home and reached near his colony under Khajrana police station limits in the city. The businessman has been identified as Syed Irshad (30), a resident of Pakiza Colony, Khajrana locality in the city.
According to officials, a team of police raided the house of the accused, who was identified as Anant Jain alias Shontu, but he managed to escape. The raiding team however seized more than Rs 17 crore in cash, gold, and silver from his house.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kumar said, "Two people have died and three were injured during the firing. The injured are undergoing treatment. The four accused came in two bikes."
