Imran Khan and his wife requested the court to set aside their conviction and sentences by an accountability court earlier this month and stressed that the verdict lacked credible evidence and suffered from procedural lapses.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan held a conversation with his lawyers and representatives of media at Adiala Jail where he defended the Al Qadir Trust, cases against his wife Bushra Bibi and gave a call for the establishment of a judicial commission in the country.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqqas Akram said that the party will file an appeal in the high court at the earliest, in order to quash the ruling and correct the egregious miscarriage of justice.
Khan called the judicial process a "mockery" of justice and said that the individuals who wrote the judgement leaked it to the media, undermining the integrity of the legal system.
Imran Khan and his wife, filed the appeal through their attorneys, Barrister Salman Safdar and Advocate Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry. Bushra Bibi appeared in person before the court to complete biometric verification.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana stated that the verdict had been deferred due to the absence of the accused and their lawyers, The Express Tribune reported. Rana said that he reached the court at 8:30 am (local time) and issued two summons for Imran Khan to appear, however, both he and his wife did n
