Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy confirmed that 19 people lost their lives in the Kurnool bus tragedy. He said that the state government has announced Rs 5 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs each to the injured.
"Upon the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government will provide an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs to those injured in the Kurnool bus accident," Goud said in a statement.
"I hope the Union government reviews the transport policy, where such buses should be recalled. China has completely banned the sleeper coach buses. Maybe it is time to rethink. People don't survive such accidents. It is high time we review this policy," Kavitha told ANI.
The forensic team arrived at the site of the tragic bus accident and began a detailed inspection of the vehicle. Experts are collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the fire and the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
