Acting on a tip-off, vigilant troops of 110 Bn BSF Meghalaya confiscated 58 buffaloes brutally crammed into two trucks from Ichamati- Shella road, East Khasi Hills on Saturday, BSF Meghalaya stated.
The release said, "On 14 July 2023, vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya seized 7 country-made engine-fitted boats loaded with huge quantities of sugar meant for smuggling to Bangladesh through the international border of West Jaintia Hills."
The release said, "Acting on specific tip-off, vigilant troops 04 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized clothing item i.e, saree of worth Rs 13 lakh approx while being smuggled to Bangladesh from bordering area of East Khasi Hills on July 10, 2023."
A woman was apprehended and 179 bottles of Phensedyl were seized in a joint operation by the Border Security Force Meghalaya and the Meghalaya police, informed a press release on Saturday.
In this regard, the official media handle of BSF Meghalaya took to Twitter and said," As a good will gesture, 43 Batallion BSF Meghalaya handed over a Bangladeshi national of unsound mind to Border Guard Bangladesh who inadvertently crossed International boundary and entered Indian territory
The Border Security Force (BSF) of Meghalaya seized clothing items worth Rs 13 lakhs while being smuggled to Bangladesh from the bordering area of East Khasi Hills, informed officials on Thursday.
The suspects were identified as Islam Uddin and Fazer Ali, both residents of Companiganj, Bangladesh, who had stolen parts of machinery involved in the border fence construction and had plans to carry out a robbery in villages along the international boundary also.
The Border Security Force (BSF) of Meghalaya apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals who entered India illegally through the International Border of East Khasi Hills, informed officials.
The mobile checkpost of 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya rescued 70 cattle from the bordering area of West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya on May 4, which were meant for smuggling to Bangladesh, the statement said.
"In its commitment towards making the International Border crime-free, vigilant troops of 110 Bn BSF Meghalaya rescued 22 cattle from the bordering area of East Khasi Hills which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh through the International Border.
