Wrestling Federation of India Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar on Saturday termed the charges levelled against the federation's president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh 'baseless'.
Members of the committee include Olympic medalist Mary Kom, former archer Dola Banerjee, Alaknanda Ashok, London Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt, Indian Weightlifting Federation President Sahdev Yadav and two advocates, the IOA announced on Friday.
He also informed the media that the WFI had issued the explanation to the Sports Ministry within the stipulated 72 hours on the allegations made by wrestlers, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games (CWG) medalists, in Delhi.
Talking about the aftermath of her Tokyo Olympics performance, Phogat said that she had requested the WFI President to meet her after returning from the Olympics but Brij Bhushan Saran Singh has not met her to date.
Vinesh Phogat, the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold in both Commonwealth and Asian Games, told the media that the government should intervene and appoint former wrestlers for different roles in WFI.
Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia stated that the wrestlers who are protesting at Jantar Mantar are not making bogus claims as more grapplers have surfaced who are victims of sexual assault. He also said that they also have valid proof of the misdeeds suffered by the victims
