The farm owner has been identified as Nanakram Chouhan. Tanmay fell into the 400-feet deep borewell dug in the farm while playing on December 6 in Mandvi village of Madhya Pradesh's Betul district.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: "It is very sad that little Tanmay (Sahu), who fell in a borewell in Betul's Mandvi village, could not be saved even after tireless efforts by the administration."
An eight-year-old, who fell into a 55-feet-deep borewell in Mandavi village in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh on December 6, died after he was pulled out following a rescue operation, said the Betul District Administration on Saturday.
Tanmay's mother, Jyoti Sahu said: "Give me my child, whatever it may be. So much time has passed. Three days have passed, as officials kept saying 'two to four more hours '. I don't want anything, take out my son. I want to see my child once, whatever it may be, just take him out."
Betul Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shyamendra Jaiswal late Wednesday said, "Excavation is going on and about 33 feet of excavation have been done. Our target is 45 feet. The child, however, is not responding as he might have fallen unconscious.."
Betul Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shyamendra Jaiswal said, "It is taking more time than what we expected because there are stones. We have reached a depth of over 40 feet so far and vertical digging remains. Medical team is present on the spot."
All the borewells and three overhead tanks installed in the Idaldih village years ago have already become defunct and dry, and the villagers are now bound to collect water from open pits for cooking and drinking purposes.
