The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police in a joint operation recovered a packet of suspected heroin of gross weight, approximately 5 kg, in Punjab's Amritsar district, officials said on Friday.
The Border Security Force apprehended a Pakistani national near the India-Pakistan border fence in Amritsar, an official statement issued on Thursday read.
One packet of suspected heroin has been recovered in a joint operation carried out by BSF (Border Security Force) troops and Punjab Police on Wednesday in Tarn Taran district.
Initially established at Tekenpur on March 1, 1966, as the 1st Battalion of the BSF, this remarkable force has left an indelible mark through its outstanding service, particularly during the 1971 war with Pakistan on the Western front.
A joint team of police and Border Security Force (BSF) security forces have gunned down three naxals in an encounter that took place in insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, Kanker SP Indira Kalyan Elesela said.
"On February 24, 2024, during afternoon hours, on following a specific information of its int set-up regarding presence of a drone, an extensive search operation was launched by BSF in border area of District Amritsar," the statement said.
