Telangana High Court on Tuesday confirmed the death penalty of five people awarded by the NIA Special Court in the Dilsukhnagar bomb blast case of 2013. The High Court dismissed their criminal appeal petition.
The NIA Special Court in Kolkata, on Saturday convicted and sentenced one accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fine in the 2019 Lokepur bomb blast case of West Bengal, the NIA said on Sunday.
Chand alias Arif Akhtar and Rahul Pasi have been sentenced to 10 years of RI, along with Rs 5,000 fine each, under section 436 of IPC and Sections 3 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act in the case, as per an official statement on Sunday.
The NIA has arrested Pachanan Ghorai in connection with the 2022 Bhupatinagar bomb blast that killed three people. The blast was part of a criminal conspiracy involving explosives to spread terror. Further investigations are ongoing.
