Investigations have revealed that accused persons Umar Faaruq and Ferose Khan were part of the conspiracy meetings attended by Jamesha Mubeen at Umar's residence in Coonor, Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the November 19 pressure cooker blast in an autorickshaw in Mangaluru wherein a passenger, identified as Mohammed Shariq, was carrying a pressure cooker bomb made from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Taha's name came up during the ongoing investigation into the November 19 incident in which an explosive device went off in an auto-rickshaw, leaving the driver and a passenger injured.
Days after an explosion in an autorickshaw in Karnataka's Mangaluru, Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Tuesday advised people to not share any unverified information after a video surfaced on social media in which two men can be seen near a wine shop with a bag.
Terming the Mangaluru incident as a "dastardly act of terror and violence", the Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar assured that the administration will nab all the culprits in the case.
"We can say that the accused acts have been inspired and influenced by some terrorist organisation which is having a global presence. So, it is due to that," the Karnataka ADGP said.
The accused, identified by the police as Sharik, has been admitted to the Father Muller Hospital in Karnataka's Mangaluru after he sustained 40-45 per cent burn injuries due to a fire that broke out in an autorickshaw in the Kankanadi police station area at around 5 pm on Saturday.
In a major breakthrough in the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast case, Additional Director General of Police Alok Kumar on Sunday visited the spot and said that the bomb was implanted with an aim to disrupt harmony in the area.
