The Jaranwala incident took place on August 16 where a crowd vandalised over 21 churches and set more than a hundred houses in Jaranwala on fire after clerics made announcements in the mosques inciting the mob to attack the Christian community under allegations of blasphemy.
Judge Malik in his ruling in the blasphemy case stated, “Blasphemy against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and desecration of the Holy Quran were heinous and unforgivable crimes. The perpetrators of these crimes do not deserve any concession or leniency.”
As an angry mob, motivated by blasphemy claims, set fire to churches and wreaked havoc on Christian homes in Jaranwala tehsil of Faisalabad recently, this incident in particular reminds everyone of another distressing chapter in Pakistan's history.
The petition filed by the Chairman of Grace Bible Fellowship Church Pakistan through advocate Shahbaz Fazal Saroya, informed the court of the continuous threats to the community by some locals.

Tehreek-e-Labbiak Pakistan (TLP) had earlier filed an FIR on July 31 against a total of eight persons for alleged blasphemy, under Section 298-C for posing as Muslims and preaching their religion.
In the Jaranwala blasphemy incident, the damages suffered due to the burning of churches and the houses of minorities has been estimated to be Pakistani Rupees (PKR) 67 million, reported Dawn.
