Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday voiced optimism of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returning for a third, straight, term at the Centre in 2024, adding that India will become the world's third-largest economy during his next tenure.
The development came as top leaders of 26 Opposition parties from across the country met in Bengaluru on Tuesday to discuss a united strategy to take on the ruling NDA alliance at the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The second and concluding day of the opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru was held, with 26 like-minded parties closing ranks with a common aim of taking on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next year's Lok Sabha polls.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan says, "All is well in NDA. Talks were going on for a long time. We had some concerns and discussions were held over it. Our aim is the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 Bihar elections."
"Had a positive discussion with the country's Home Minister respected Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi on issues related to the alliance," Paswan tweeted after the meeting in Hindi.
The development is being seen as a boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, as the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar has a stronghold in the OBC community in Uttar Pradesh.
