BJP leader Shazia Ilmi on Friday condemned the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, saying that the way extremists are killing Hindus, lynching them, and this is happening either under the patronage or under the watch of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.
Incidents of vandalism and alleged targeted attacks during Christmas celebrations across several states have triggered sharp political reactions, with opposition parties criticising the BJP, while the ruling party has maintained that law and order are being firmly upheld.
Multiple organisations, mostly pro-Hindu activists in saffron-clad clothes, dominated the streets of Kolkata on Friday, demanding that the atrocities being committed against minorities, especially Hindus, be stopped.

According to a release, he made this remark while addressing party workers at the inaugural session of the State Executive Meeting held today at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium.
"The way two murders happened in Bangladesh is way beyond the tolerance level. The Indian government should give Bangladesh a befitting answer that no one should do such things again," Muni told ANI.
The pro-Hindu activists, who carried out a rally and sat outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission office in Kolkata, were produced before the Alipore Police Court.
"Congress is carrying out propaganda on the Aravalli issue. Those protesting were once part of the Ashok Gehlot government. Congress is spreading fake propaganda and misleading people regarding the Aravalli matter," Bedham told ANI.
The Congress will oppose the Centre's decision to impose a 40 per cent financial burden on states. It will also hold the AAP government accountable for failing to implement MGNREGA effectively in Punjab.
"What we see in the last 2 years is the return of the venom that Pakistan introduces in the body politics that reflects in Bangladesh. Hate is not an ideology as hate cannot sustain itself," Akbar told ANI.
