The MET Director of Ahmedabad, Manorama Mohanty, said that Gujarat is likely to experience heavy rainfall today and tomorrow, as Cyclone Biparjoy weakens into a deep depression over the Saurashtra-Kutch region.

Presently, 119 teams of PGVCL are working in the Jamnagar district. Due to strong winds, 958 feeders, 1255 electric poles and 40 TC (Current Transformers) have been damaged in the district.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a meeting at the State Emergency Operations Center in Gandhinagar on Friday to take stock of the situation in the state in the wake of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall.
"As of now, there is no such effect of the Biparjoy cyclone in the state, mainly it affects Gujarat and after June 16 and 17 it will have its impact over Rajasthan. But after June 18 and 19, when it becomes a low pressure, then there is a possibility of light moderate rain and heavy rain
"Biparjoy is moving in an East Northeast direction at a wind speed of 80-90 kilometres per hour (kmph) as of 8:30 am," IMD Director Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said.
As per the officials, two power stations in the Maliya Taluka of Morbi have been shut down due to the cyclonic storm. In the coastal and desert regions, more than 300 electric poles have been damaged.
IMD officials said that the 'severe' cyclonic storm Biparjoy lay centred over the Saurashtra-Kutch region and is expected to move northeastwards, adding that heavy rains are expected in Rajasthan on Friday.

According to IMD, Cyclone Biparjoy is moving ahead of Saurashtra Kutch as a 'very severe' cyclone. Several relief and rescue teams are on alert as tens of thousands of people were evacuated to safe locations in Gujarat, said officials.
