One jawan was killed and two others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxalites in the National Park area of Bijapur district on Monday, a police official said.
According to the police, the DRG team had launched an anti-Naxal operation in the area on Monday. Intermittent exchanges of fire between security forces and Naxals continued today.
The body of a naxal and arms and ammunition were recovered in the Western Division area of District Bijapur during an encounter by security forces, a top police official said.
"In the Bijapur area of South-West Bastar, four uniformed Naxals have been neutralised. Rifles like INSAS and SLR have also been recovered from them...I heartily congratulate the jawans," Dy CM Sharma said while speaking to ANI.
