Amid ongoing controversy over Bihar Education Minister and RJD leader Chandrashekhar's remarks on Ramcharitmanas, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is raising this issue to divert attention from real issues.
Chandrashekhar stoked a controversy after he claimed that Ramcharitmanas, an epic Hindu religious book which is based on Ramayana, "spreads hatred in the society".
Amid the ongoing protest demanding compensation for land acquired for Chausa thermal plant, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey recited Ramcharitmanas to answer the state Education Minister Chandrashekhar's remark on the holy book.
"The statement will directly benefit BJP. The topic he spoke on is an agenda of BJP. Speaking on BJP's agenda means playing on their pitch. If we play there, who will benefit? BJP," Kushwaha told ANI.
