A fiery debate broke out in the Bihar Assembly between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday, with both leaders engaging in a heated exchange.
"During the previous government's tenure, there was no electricity. There was electricity for only eight hours, even in Patna. We managed all of it. Consumers used to pay a significant amount of money for their electricity bills. We have decided that electricity will be provided for free.
"This is a new thing that has started in our politics, to say all this before elections. You mention in your manifesto what you plan to do in the next five years. However, giving something for free immediately during elections undermines the concept of democracy," Khurshid told reporters her
The RJD leader stated that earlier, Nitish Kumar was against the idea of providing free electricity; however, after he proposed the scheme, the Bihar CM ended up copying it.
