Union Minister Nirmala Sithraman targeted the Delhi Chief Minister for not breaking his silence on the controversy after Aam Admi Party MP Swati Maliwal said that she was assaulted at the CM's residence by his aide, Bibhav Kumar.
Maliwal has alleged that Kejriwal's Personal Secretary Bibhav Kumar "slapped" her "atleast seven to eight times" while she "continued screaming" and "brutally dragged" her while "kicking" her in her "chest, stomach and pelvis area."
An FIR was registered on Thursday in connection with the assault on Maliwal after she filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar for being assaulted at the Chief Minister's House. Kumar has been named in the FIR.
All CCTV footages related to the incident will be scrutinized by the police, they added. There are eight CCTV cameras installed outside Kejriwal's house.
Launching a scathing attack on the Delhi Chief Minister over AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's alleged assault, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asked, "Why is Kejriwal still roaming with Bibhav Kumar and not taking action against him?"
Amid heated discussions surrounding the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by Delhi CM's close aide, BJP leaders in the national capital have come in support of Maliwal and demanded action in the incident.
Sources said that Special Cell and Crime Branch teams have been deployed to arrest the accused. His location is being traced, and several teams of the Delhi Police are working on it.
The Delhi police said on Thursday that an FIR has been registered on the complaint of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal, in which the latter has alleged she was "slapped, hit on stomach and kicked" by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar.
AAP chief's private secretary Bibhav Kumar's name is included in the complaint. The team will register the FIR soon after having legal discussions, the top Delhi Police sources added.
A day After Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh admitted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, had "misbehaved" with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, BJP once again slammed Kejriwal for being silent on the issue.
