Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Monday informed that 108 incidents of stubble burning were recorded in Punjab. They held a protest against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the issue of air pollution in the national capital at Kapurthala House.
Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday said that a delegation of Punjab cabinet ministers met the governor Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted a memorandum, emphasizing the need for lifting the rice from mandis and facilitating wheat production for the upcoming season.
The Chief Minister highlighted Punjab's need for DAP supplies during this critical time. Following this, JP Nadda assured him of the centre's commitment and ensuring sufficient supplies of DAP for Punjab.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday blamed the Punjab government led by Aam Aadmi Party for farmers' protests in the state and demanded the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
"I can't understand why the farmers aren't getting money when the central government has already released Rs 44,000 crore. Money should be given to farmers and paddy must be purchased," he said.
Meanwhile, as per reports, the farmers will resort to a road blockade at a few places in Punjab for an indefinite period from October 26 to protest against the "tardy" paddy procurement and other issues.
