The Cyberabad SOT Police Medchal team on Sunday busted a rooster fight betting racket at Medchal-Malkajgiri and arrested four accused with Rs 18,410 cash, three roosters, and 20 small knives from them.
Kolkata police arrested five persons from different places for allegedly running a cricket betting racket during the ongoing ICC men's cricket World Cup 2023.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim carried out the raid at a private bungalow in Alto Pilerne area and found the accused betting online over a cricket match between India and Afghanistan in World Cup 2023.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad South Zone Gummi Chakravarthy, said the arrested trio is believed to be part of an organised betting gang.
The accused used to run a website and had an office in Indore's Vijay Nagar area. They used to provide an online platform to bookies placing bets on cricket matches by taking money from them.
