Bharatiya Janata Party MP, Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Wednesday left for West Bengal on Wednesday along with three others to inquire into the Bengal violence that erupted during the gram panchayat elections.

As the three-tier panchayat elections in West Bengal were marred by poll-related violence, Bharatiya Janata Party state unit chief Sukanta Majumdar on Saturday wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding the intervention of the Central government.
While the bombs fell silent under the watchful eyes of the central paramilitary forces, the war of words in West Bengal escalated just a day ahead of the panchayat elections on Saturday.
"The BJP's term is coming to an end; the 'Double-Engine' government concept has derailed. They will once again make false promises, but this time, the people are aware of their lies," she said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, on Saturday, wrote to the state election commission complaining about the violation of the Model Code of Conduct by the Trinamool Congress ahead of the Panchayat elections in West Bengal.
West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming panchayat polls that are scheduled to be held on July 8, promising corruption-free village councils and a focus on rural infrastructure development.
In a letter written to the West Bengal State Election Commission, the state unit of the BJP has called for various confidence-building measures ahead of the Panchayat polls.
"A fire broke out at the BJP office in Dabgram and the incident seems to be planned. Various documents and furniture were destroyed in the incident along with a scooter," Amit said.
"Our candidates are being threatened by TMC to withdraw their nominations for panchayat polls. All the candidates who are here with me will give their written complaints to the Governor," Majumdar told ANI.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is in opposition in West Bengal welcomed the Governor's visit, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) criticized the Governor's move.
