Three Israeli citizens were arrested for using drones to smuggle items like drugs and cigarettes from Israel to the Gaza Strip: Muhammad Sarahin, Sharif Abu Gardoud and Younes Abu Gardoud - all residents of the Bedouin town Mas'udein el-Azazme, located outside of Be'er Sheva.
Wahib Abu Arar, 26, was killed after he opened fire at police with a 16-gauge rifle. Another unnamed 27 year old is now dead too, with the cause of death remaining unclear, and a 25 year old was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The Bedouin authorities in the Negev are facing "significant and long-standing environmental challenges such as missing or outdated infrastructure, environmental hazards, environmental crime and high costs of waste treatment," said the Ministry.
The arrests came as part of an operational activity that included approximately 150 police officers and in cooperation with civilian enforcement agencies with the aim of enforcing law and order in the area and strengthening governance.
Five of the victims were in critical condition, one was in medium condition and four were in light condition, The Press Service of Israel has learned. The status of one victim was not immediately available.
The projects that will be established in the future will help the authorities to save on the budget and generate additional income as well as reduce air pollution.
