The members of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Thursday organized a statewide screening of the controversial BBC documentary on PM Modi on the occasion of Republic Day.
Singh told ANI, "Whatever Mallikarjun Kharge is saying is completely different from the reality. If he and his party men had respect for the judiciary, they would not have supported the BBC documentary."
"Nothing happened inside our university, an attempt was made but it was completely foiled. Whatever happened, happened on the streets. It was a small incident blown out of proportion. Our precautionary measures were good," Akthar told ANI.
Describing India banning the BBC documentary on PM Modi as a matter of press freedom, the US State Department said that it is high time to highlight the importance of democratic principles like freedom of expression and make it a point around the world as well as in India.
Jamia Millia Islamia University administration on Wednesday said that no screening of the BBC documentary on PM Modi would be allowed on the campus without prior permission.
Talking about the BBC documentary, Muraleedharan said, "Nobody should be allowed to trample upon the sovereignty of India. It is unfortunate that a party which claims to have been part of the freedom struggle does not care about the sovereignty and security of the country."
