HM Rehman said, "It was peaceful here today. There was disturbance at only one place. A few women were sloganeering; they were spoken to. No further arrests were made today. In connection with yesterday's incident, 10 people were arrested and presented before the court."

West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar was taken into custody by West Bengal Police after he sat on a protest demanding the arrest of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in violence-hit Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district.
Trinamool Congress leader and one of the associates of TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazra, who was arrested earlier in connection with the Sandeshkhali violence issue, was sent to police custody for eight days on Sunday.

The Parliament Committee of Privileges on Thursday directed the top police officials of West Bengal to appear before them over a complaint from the state BJP chief and MP Sukanta Majumdar on February 19.
