Amarnath Yatra which was halted at Cahbdrkote base camp in Ramban due to closing of Jammu Srinagar National Highway, has resumed from Chandrkote base camp.
"A total of 9,150 devotees took darshan at the Amarnath Cave shrine on July 27, taking the cumulative figure of devotees to 369,288. This surpasses last year's total of 365,721 devotees taking the Yatra," officials said.
Officials said that more than 3 lakh pilgrims have visited the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir in the first 21 days of the annual Yatra that began on July 1.
The historic 62-day annual Amarnath Yatra is going on at Gupha, located at an altitude of 13 thousand feet above sea level. There are two ways to go for this Yatra which started on July 1, 2023.
The purpose of his visit was to assess the security measures put in place and ensure the safety and well-being of the yatris participating in the annual Amarnath Yatra.
The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh on Friday visited Base Camp yatri niwas Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to review the security arrangements and other facilities for the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra.
During the inspection, Alok Kumar visited all yatra camps en route from Srinagar to Baltal including Manigam, Neilgrath, Baltal Base Camp, Baltal Tent City and Domail.
