The Indian Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police resumed operations on the sixth consecutive day against terrorists "holed up" in the forest area of the Gadole in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district.
Pakistan forces gave covering fire to one of three terrorists, who tried to cross over into India from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri town of Baramulla district.
During the operation, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and currencies, both Indian and Pakistani, was recovered by the Indian Army and J&K Police from the terrorists who tried to infiltrate.
The Indian Army apprehended two suspected individuals after recovering war-like stores from their possession in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said.
"2 Terrorists have been eliminated and bodies recovered, third terrorist killed but retrieval of body being interfered by firing by Pak post in vicinity, on LoC," the Army statement added.
In a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, Kashmir Zone Police wrote, "1 more terrorist killed (Total 02). Search operation in progress. Further details shall follow".
"Encounter has started between terrorists and Army & Baramulla Police in forward area of Uri, Hathlanga in Baramulla district. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police posted on X.
The Jammu and Kashmir police in a joint operation with the security forces busted a terrorist module and nabbed two terrorist associates linked to the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla, an official statement said on Friday.
A suspicious object likely an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was detected on Srinagar Baramulla National Highway at Hanjiwera Pattan has been defused by security forces on Monday.
The Baramulla police in Jammu and Kashmir has busted a terrorist recruitment module in the district and arrested three terrorist associates of LeT outfit, said an official statement on Sunday.
