Assam Police foiled a cross-border cattle smuggling bid and fired upon Bangladeshi nationals trying to infiltrate along the India-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district. However, no casualty was reported.
In a joint operation, Assam police and Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended one Bangladeshi national in Assam's South Salmara Mankachar district along the Indo-Bangladesh border, police said on Sunday.
The officials had deported the eight Bangladeshi nationals including a woman through legal procedures via the international border point at Sutarkandi in Assam's Karimganj district.

South Salmara (Assam) [India], August 28 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) personnel detained five Bangladeshi nationals for illegally crossing the international border in Assam's South Salmara Mankachar district on Saturday.
