West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Monday accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of sending her supporters to allegedly attack BJP leaders and workers.
BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh on Monday alleged an attack on him and Malda North MP Khagen Murmu in Nagrakata, North Bengal, while distributing relief materials for people affected by the flood and landslides in the State.
He further mocked the CM, stating that she only got her photos clicked and kept demanding money from the Central government without taking up responsibilities.
Bhattacharya accused Banerjee of lacking sensitivity and prioritising festivities over governance during a natural disaster. He described the state government as incompetent, claiming that it learned nothing from the Amphan cyclone and lacks an effective disaster management team.
Banerjee said relief and rescue operations are ongoing, with the State Disaster Management Department, the Darjeeling district administration, and local volunteers working tirelessly on the ground.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that she was "deeply worried" about the flooding in several areas of both North Bengal and South Bengal, caused by sudden heavy rains, and assured that all necessary assistance would be sent to the affected families immediately.
