Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday asked to hold elections on ballot paper if people have doubts and said that the Election Commissioner should also be elected by the people.

Maharashtra State President of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), Jayant Patil, on Sunday questioned the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) role during the Maharashtra assembly elections and said that the voting increased after 5 pm and that it is a matter of concern. He further demanded that
"I will not apologise at all, not even a bit...If they are working under pressure from the PM and other ministers then what I have said is right," he said.
Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Yadav on Friday said that Electronic Voting Machines should be replaced with ballot papers in the elections.
On opposition claims regarding EVMs, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma said that opposition parties 'failure' is the result of losing elections rather than blaming EVMs.
"Votes of people from SC, ST, OBC, poor communities are being wasted. Set aside EVMs. We do not want EVMs; we want voting on ballot paper...Let them keep the machine at their home, at the home of PM Modi or Amit Shah...Then we would know where you (BJP-NDA) stand," Mallikarjun Kharge said
Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi on Tuesday defended Party President Mallikarjun Kharge statement "We do not want EVMs, we want ballot papers", saying that if trust of a "larger section of voters in voting machines starts shaking then the Election Commission should listen to it."
