Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested in a gold smuggling case last week, approached Sessions Court in Bengaluru on Tuesday for bail. Her move came after the Special Court for Economic Offences here denied her bail.
The case dates back to 2018 when Rakesh Jain, a money changer from Chandni Chowk, was robbed and killed. The prosecution alleged that Bharti and his associates hatched a conspiracy to commit the crime. An FIR was lodged in the police Station in Shahdara in the year 2018.
The Economic Offences Court in Bengaluru on Wednesday adjourned the bail hearing of Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested at Bengaluru airport for allegedly smuggling gold till March 14 (Friday).
Speaking to the reporters after appearing before the Police, SP MLA Abu Asim Azmi said, "There is no need to record a statement; there is no case. An FIR had been registered against me. I took anticipatory bail. I got the bail, and I need to come and put my signature for three days."
