In view of the Meteorological Department's alert of heavy to very heavy rains in various districts of the Garhwal division, the Char Dham Yatra has been postponed for July 7.
Taking to the microblogging site, Chamoli Police, Uttarakhand, posted on X, "The Badrinath National Highway has been blocked due to debris near Bhanerpani, old Nagar Panchayat Pipalkoti, Kanchen Ganga, Chhinka Paagalnala and Helang in Chamoli district."
"The rescued individual had got trapped on the Badrinath highway while he was on a trek. He was injured while returning from the trek and was therefore unable to cross the obstructed road," said the official.
Amid incessant rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand, a portion of the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway-58 between Purusadi in Chamoli district was damaged on Tuesday.
The National Highway-58 Rishikesh-Badrinath highway has been closed due to a heavy landslide up to 100 meters from the mountain in Totaghati, said an official on Saturday.
The Badrinath National Highway has been blocked in several areas of the Chamoli district, as a result of heavy rainfall in the state, said officials on Tuesday.
Due to intermittent rains in the Chamoli district, from Sunday night, the Badrinath national highway has been blocked due to debris triggered by a landslide. Many vehicles have been buried under the debris.
