Foreign Ministers of Australia and Sri Lanka on Saturday condoled the loss of lives in the Odisha triple train mishap in Balasore that claimed 238 people and injured over 900.
Hailing the relationship with India as one of the most "important", Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Wednesday said that the ties between the two countries have been going "strength to strength" as she appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Pacific nation.
"India is a critical power, great power in the region that there is no reshaping of the Indo-Pacific without India. We've seen that India is a civilisational power that brings a different perspective to some of the challenges of these time," said Wong.
"Thank you to my good friend S Jaishankar for welcoming Foreign Ministers to the G20 FMM today. Australia strongly supports India's G20 presidency. We are continuing to strengthen our partnership - which is closer and more important than ever," Senator Penny Wong tweeted.
Before her visit, Wong, in a statement, said, "This week I will travel to Malaysia and India to advance Australia's bilateral relationships and promote Australia's interests in a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region."
