In a major boost to hospitality infrastructure in Southern Assam, the Assam Cabinet has approved the development of Silchar's first five-star hotel, to be built by Polo Hotels Group with an investment of approximately Rs 103 crore on Saturday.

The Assam cabinet on Saturday approved a series of decisions aimed at strengthening land rights, modernising governance, boosting infrastructure, and improving administrative and policing efficiency across the state.
The decision was taken on Sunday during the state cabinet meeting held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
