Mentionable, for the first time, the BJP held an election rally in Birsingh, a minority-dominated area that lies at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Assam Cabinet Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass campaigned for Jabed Islam, the NDA candidate from Asom Gano Parishad (AGP).
Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass exuded confidence that the Bharatiya Janata party will win more seats than before and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return to power.
Ahead of the second phase of polling in Assam for the 18th Lok Sabha, on April 26, the ruling BJP in the state has set its hopes of retaining the prized Karimganj constituency on the development of public infrastructure to support trade.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said that BJP-led NDA will secure 12 plus seats in Assam and he is confident of a good show in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 26.
Going to polls on April 26 in the second phase, Nagaon and Karimganj Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam will have a neck-to-neck and a triangular fight between BJP, Congress and AIUDF.
"We want to defeat the BJP, so we are directly contesting in 3 constituencies and indirectly participating in three other constituencies by supporting someone else," AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam told ANI.
Congress MP and candidate from Jorhat Lok Sabha seat, Gaurav Gogoi on Friday urged the voters to vote in large numbers to save democracy and the culture of the country.
The newly created Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat in Assam, formerly known as Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency will go to the polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
"The people of Assam and the country have trusted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time NDA is unstoppable and will win more than 400 seats. Congress will be finished," Atul Bora told ANI.
Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita who was campaigning for BJP's Dilip Saikia, a candidate from Darang-Udalguri Lok Sabha seat showed confidence in Saikia and said he will win with more votes in this area.
"Today marked a significant moment as Ananta Kumar Malo, former MLA, Kishore Bhattacharya, former APCC member, and Bhaskar Dahal, former secretary & Spokesperson of APCC, officially joined the BJP at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, Guwahati," Kalita said in a post on 'X'.
Reflecting on his experience, Sonowal said, "I learned to walk by holding the hand of my late mother. Today, after meeting the elders here, the void in my heart is filled with pure love, affection, and blessings from the maternal figures."
