The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an absconding Service Team (Hit Team) member of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in the Praveen Nettaru murder case.
"The gang was running a fake currency racket and were trying to bring in fake currencies from Ludhiana to spend it on liquor shops here in Indore," the police said.
Jena was arrested by Odisha Vigilance during the investigation and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar for possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of 368 per cent of known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
The CBI, in a statement, said that the accused was absconding and was wanted in an ongoing investigation of a case related to the alleged rigging of JEE(Main)-2021 examination by the private coaching centres.
