According to the release, heavy torrential rains were witnessed in Lachen, Lachung and Chungthang valleys on Friday. As a result of this, approximately 500 tourists who were travelling to Lachung and Lachen Valley were stranded at Chungthang, due to landslides and road blocks en route.
"The tank is expected to be ready for trials by the end of this year and would be immediately sent to the Ladakh sector for our own trials. Once we are ready, we will hand it over to the Army for user trials," senior DRDO officials told ANI.
Security personnel while conducting a patrol in the violence-affected area of Manipur recovered a "Remote Initiation Mechanism" for improvised explosive devices (IED) on Wednesday, Army said on Thursday.

"During searches by the army's sniffer dog detected some suspicious IEDs and other explosive material which were later on destroyed by the Bomb Disposal squad safely," he said.
During the ongoing tensions in Manipur, supplies to the Imphal Valley were cut off due to roadblocks and consequent fear among transporters. As a consequence, the state of essential supplies in Manipura was dwindling and beginning to reach critical levels.
Two soldiers of the Bangladesh Army were killed and as many were injured in an attack by a separatist organisation Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA) in Bandarban district, Dhaka Tribune reported.
