In an intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a cross-border organised arms smuggling module and apprehended six persons with six sophisticated weapons & ₹5.75 lakh hawala money.
According to the Assam Rifles, the operation was carried out during a meticulously planned joint Cordon and Search Operation in the General Area of Haolenphai, the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal District.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations revealed that Amit Singh, along with his associate Gurpreet Singh alias Ginny, was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers who were pushing consignments of weapons to disturb peace and harmony in Punjab.
