Marking the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa on Wednesday strongly condemned the Congress party for its actions during that period.
Union Minister SP Singh Baghel on Wednesday slammed the Congress and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for imposing the emergency 50 years ago, calling it a "blot on Indian democracy."
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress party on the 50th anniversary of Emergency. Chouhan termed it as the "biggest blot" in the history of Independent India.
Commenting on the occasion, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari sharply criticised the Congress party and said, "Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, and till today the Congress party has not officially apologised for imposing the Emergency in the country."
"Those who themselves strangled the Constitution are now posing as its protectors. 25 June ~ A reminder of the darkest chapter in India's democracy. Never forget the dark days of the Emergency,' he said in a post on X.
Speaking to ANI, Kesavan said, "Today, the day which marks the imposition of Indira Gandhi's fascist emergency, the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi should immediately tender a public apology to our nation."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on X, recalled the 1975 Emergency as a dark chapter, marking its 50th anniversary as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas. He criticised the Congress for suspending rights, muzzling Parliament, and targeting the poor via the 42nd Amendment.
Taking to 'X'. the Union Minister mentioned that the Emergency was a "conspiracy" by a family which was "intoxicated" by "power" and it was also a proof of Congress' "tyrannical" and "cruel" mindset which handed over emergency to the country by "murdering" the constitution.
As the Centre marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency as 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma on Wednesday said that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi turned the entire country into a prison in order to save her power.
On the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Emergency, Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva called it the "darkest chapter" in India's democracy. An exhibition at Connaught Place aims to educate youth about Congress's alleged assault on democratic values.
