96 parliamentary constituencies from nine States and one Union Territory will go to the polls. All the Lok Sabha constituencies of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana vote in a single phase. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha will also hold assembly elections on May 13.
Rajahmundry is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state of Andhra Pradesh. As per the announcement made by the Election Commission of India on March 16, Rajahmundry will undergo voting in the 4th phase of the 2024 general elections i.e. May 13. The date of vote counting is June 4.
Bobbili Srinu of Congress, Kalisetti Appalanaidu of TDP, and the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party's (YSRCP) Bellana Chandra Sekhar are facing each other for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Vizianagaram constituency.
Congress party has fielded Valluru Bhargav from the Vijayawada seat. Kesineni Sivanath is contesting on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party. The ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is being represented by Kesineni Srinivas.
"295 companies of central forces are coming...State Armed Forces are also being deployed...till now we have recovered Rs 70 crore in cash and liquor worth Rs 40 crore, and we have recovered gold and silver as well, we have made recoveries worth Rs 269 crore," said Chief Election Commissioner
In Andhra Pradesh, Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place simultaneously on May 13. The counting of the votes for both elections will take place on June 4.
YS Vijayalakshmi, the mother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and APCC chief YS Sharmila, has appealed to the people of Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency to cast their votes in favour of her daughter in the upcoming elections.
N Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, called for a "multi-fold attack approach" to ensure empowerment of all sections and added that giving reservations alone cannot ensure empowerment "in all angles".
Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party will emerge as the single largest party in the southern states including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala when the results are announced on June 4.
In an interview with ANI, Chandrababu Naidu said, "He (Jagan Reddy) is an egoistic. He has a psyscho nature, a sadist, and he is also a destroyer, a looter. He is a combination of all these things."
Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda, while addressing a rally on Saturday, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the definition and culture of politics and now instead of appeasement and religion, politics of development has started in the country.
