BJP leader Tarun Chugh has expressed condolences to the families of two Army officers and a police officer killed in an encounter in Anantnag on Wednesday and said the desperate act of terrorists will further steel the determination of security forces to defeat their designs.
A drone surveillance and search operation is underway by security forces after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists yesterday in the Anantnag district.
After three officers lost their lives in an encounter in Anantnag, the Indian Army along with the local police continued their operation against a group of two-three terrorists hiding at the spot, officials said on Thursday.
"I don't see the end of this (encounters). Today we had an encounter in Rajouri, there are encounters daily (taking place in (Kashmir). The government (Centre and J-K) is shouting daily that militancy is over (in Kashmir). Now tell me, is militancy over?"
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his grief over the death of the officers in the encounter and also paid tributes to the J-K DySP at Budgam on Wednesday.
A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, was killed during an encounter between security forces and ultras in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said.
"1 terrorist killed in Bijbehara encounter. Operation going on. Encounter in Awantipora going on. Further details shall follow," tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Police.
