Speaking to ANI from the site of the incident, Sinjini Sengupta, Block Development Officer (BDO), said that three bodies have been recovered so far and the search operation is underway.
"It is a spiritual congregation comparable to the Kumbh Mela of South India. The festival is believed to have begun during the reign of Cheraman Perumal and later continued under the leadership of the Valluvakonathiri," Bharathi told ANI.
