In a setback for Gujarat-based dairy giant Amul, the Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels Association has decided to use only Nandini milk to "support the state's (dairy) farmers".
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that Amul will take away the share of milk producers of the state and there is a systematic conspiracy to destroy the local Nandini brand.
Amid Amul's entry into the Bengaluru market, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar on Saturday said that the state's dairy cooperative Nandini is a "better brand" than Amul and that there is no need for the latter.
"Nandini products are sold in other states and countries too and our Nandini brand is capable of facing any competition. Congress is doing politics in everything and shedding crocodile tears for farmers," he said.
"Congress made India the world's largest milk producer through the White Revolution. But... BJP's misrule betrayed our dairy farmers, due to which milk prices are increasing daily and now we are forced to import milk products. The difference is clear!", Kharge tweeted.
"All the Kannadigas have to unanimously resist the usurpation of the KMF, which is built for the welfare of the farmers of the country. All Kannadigas should pledge not to buy Amul products", Siddaramaiah said.
