A air passenger received a pre-recorded call from an alleged Khalistan supporter, threatening to take down the national flag at Pragati Maidan in the national capital and replacing it with the Khalistani flag, Delhi Police informed on Saturday.
Punjab Police on Saturday appealed to people not to believe rumours and fake news of the arrest of radical preacher and pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh, which is being circulated on social media.
According to the police, the accused identified as Amrik Singh, a resident of RS Pura, and his wife Paramjit Kour were detained for reportedly having links with Papalpreet Singh, a key aide of Amritpal Singh.
Uttarakhand police has said that they have received inputs from the Punjab Police that the Khalistan supporter who fled from Punjab, may enter Uttarakhand from Haryana.
According to sources, Delhi Police and Punjab Police were conducting a search operation in Delhi and its borders after receiving intelligence inputs of a sighting of Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal at Delhi's ISBT bus terminal.
Earlier in the day, the State police released as many as 44 persons, who were taken into preventive arrest during the ongoing operation against those trying to disturb law and order in the state, from police custody.
Haryana's minister for Home and Health, Anil Vij, on Friday alleged that the Punjab government was not serious about arresting fugitive Khalistan leader and 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh, saying that the Haryana Police had informed their Punjab counterparts about his whereabouts
Amritpal Singh, Khalistani supporter and head of the organization Waris Punjab De, kept his wife in captivity, beat her up regularly, and was associated with several women.
"First, they were served notice but their replies were not satisfactory and to avoid any law & order situation, the action was taken", Additional SP, Raipur told ANI.
"An alert has been issued in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udhamsinghnagar districts of the state as a precaution in view of the possibility of pro-Khalisthan Amritpal Singh entering the state," the DGP told ANI.
