Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday welcomed the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council's appeal to "people's representatives" to vote in favour of the Waqf Amendment Bill, when it comes up for discussions in Parliament.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari on Saturday slammed All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for criticising the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and alleged that Muslim leaders were constantly lying to the Muslim community on the Waqf Bill.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday hit out at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for criticising the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and alleged that he was trying to mislead the country in the name of religion.
"His statement is completely condemnable. The names that he has taken are the leaders who support NDA. These amendments are being brought for the security of the Waqf properties...These amendments in the Waqf Bill are the need of the hour," Patel told ANI.

Congress MP Mohammad Jawed on Friday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government over the Waqf Amendment Bill, alleging it was taking the country gradually towards civil war.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that Waqf Amendment Bill, on which JPC has given its report, will be tabled in the Budget session of Parliament. The Budget session is slated to conclude on April 4.
