Abdul Ghani, belongs to Palira village in Tehsil Mandi, has been playing drums on the Budha Amarnath temple premises for the past 30 years. All the pilgrims who visit the temple are entertained by him, and they help him financially, through which Ghani runs his expenses.
The DC reviewed department and work-wise arrangements and directed the concerned to complete all pending works within a period of a week's time, well before the commencement of the yatra, it informed.
Lt General Rajeev Chaudhry, Directorate General Border Roads (DGBR) visited Baltal and Chandanwari in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday and inspected the ongoing maintenance work of Amarnath Yatra tracks by Border Road organisation (BR0), said an official statement.
"From July 1 pilgrimage from all over the country will throng the holy cave shrine of Amarnath. This yatra will end on August 30. The management is working to make this yatra successful," said J-K LG Sinha.
Deputy Commissioner of Samba, Abhishek Sharma, on Friday reviewed the plan formulated for security arrangements while chairing a meeting to discuss and assess the preparations for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 1, 2023, said an official statement.
The DC directed the concerned departments to focus on the completion of pending works well before the commencement of the Yatra, keeping in mind the increased influx of pilgrims being anticipated due to easing out of Covid restrictions.

At the meeting, a detailed discussion was held and a briefing was also given by the officers of CRPF, Police, and intelligence agencies, in view of the present security scenario and possible threats to the Amarnath Yatra this year.
The 62-day yatra, which commences on July 1 and culminates on August 31, is an important pilgrimage for Hindus who visit the Amarnath Cave, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva.
