According to the officials, inclement weather conditions in the union territory caused a delay to the annual Amarnath Yatra and suspended the yatra from both the Pahalgam and the Baltal routes.

"A video is circulating on social media wherein its alleged that police did lathicharge on yatries. However the news is totally fabricated and baseless, " Ganderbal Police said in an official statement.
"During the security review, threadbare discussions were held on various security elements at different places of deployment i.e. Langer security, Lodgment centres security, route deployment, ROP and area domination etc, from Udhampur to Jawhar Tunnel", said the statement.
As the first batch of pilgrims started its journey towards the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning, Aarti was performed at the shrine.
