Novak Djokovic delivered a commanding performance in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Wednesday, defeating Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to reaffirm his status as one of the top contenders in Melbourne.
The ongoing Australia Open 2025 will witness it's one of the biggest matches of the tournament as Serbia's Novak Djokovic will lock horns with Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the men's singles quarterfinal on Tuesday.
At the Rod Laver Arena, Djokovic stormed past the 24th seed by 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) within two hours and 39 minutes. He has now equalled legendary Roger Federer's record of reaching most QFs in Australian Open history, with 15 each.
Zverev secured the win by 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and was also broken for the first time in the tournament by Fearnley. He lost his serve once in the second and third sets. In their first-ever Head to Head meeting, Zverev smashed 25 winners, and won 14 out of 17 net points.
Alcaraz, chasing his maiden Australian Open title and his fifth Grand Slam title, dropped his first set of the tournament, but still secured a win by 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2.
In a stunning display of tennis, Alcaraz mixed power and touch to perfection as he overwhelmed Nishioka by 6-0, 6-1, 6-4. During the opening set, he dropped just four points and also secured the win in his first nine games before dropping one finally. The match lasted an hour and 22 minutes.
