External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Monday and said that the resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is widely appreciated in India. He extended India's support for China's Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) presidency.
Jaishankar expressed confidence that discussions during his visit will maintain that positive trajectory. He noted that the ties between two nations have been improving since the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan.
The visit comes at a time when both countries are trying to ease tensions and improve ties that plummeted following the deadly Galwan Valley clashes in 2020.
